Something sad is happening in America. Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy confirmed in an interview with the Baptist Press that he was “guilty as charged” in support of what he called the biblical definition of a family.
Okay. Fine. Individually disagree with that individual opinion or not. But now we have public civil servant funded by tax-payer dollars denying individuals opportunities because of what they personally believe. The Chicago permit authority says he will deny business licenses to Chick-Fil-A for a new establishment that has been in the works for months. “I will now be denying Chick-fil-A’s permit to open a restaurant in the 1st Ward.” What a bigot! It’s politics Chicago style. Who else do I know that’s from Chicago and yields such unilateral executive behavior?
To be clear, in my opinion this has nothing to do with gay rights. This has all to do with public servants with tax-payer salaries choosing to discriminate against a corporation because of the CEO’s personal beliefs. That’s wrong.
The Mayor of Boston has joined in the fray. Somehow he twisted the issue to be a decision against any company that discriminates against certain customers. Of course, Chick-fil-A never has done so, and openly says they will not. The claims against Chick-fil-A are a silly fabrication that is either out of stupidity, or childish lashing out.
I think I’ll go buy dinner at a Chick-fil-A restaurant on August 1st to show my support to them. Facebook deleted Mike Huckabee’s Facebook page invite for others to join in support, and then later restored it.
